Freebird Airlines Online Check-in

Freebird Airlines is a Turkish charter carrier (Gözen group) operating mostly holiday flights to Turkey and the Mediterranean, often sold through tour operators. Depending on how you booked, check-in takes place online before departure or at the airport counter, within strict time windows. This page brings together opening and closing times, how to get your boarding pass, and the cases where a counter visit is still required.

When Freebird online check-in opens and closes

For tickets booked through a tour operator, online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 4 hours before departure. The booking reference given by the tour operator acts as your login, along with the surname exactly as printed on the ticket.

On scheduled flights sold directly by the airline, online check-in can open much earlier when combined with paid seat selection. In the last few hours before the flight, the system assigns a seat automatically; choosing a different seat or adding services usually remains possible, generally for a fee.

Allow plenty of time for the airport part: counter opening and closing times vary from one station to another and are shown on your booking confirmation.

Completing online check-in: what the form asks for

Freebird's check-in form is on the airline's website, under the Check-in section or via My Booking. You need to enter your first and last name in capital letters, exactly as they appear on your ticket or booking confirmation, followed by your booking reference.

A few entry points often cause errors:

  • special characters are not accepted: replace ä with ae, ü with ue, ö with oe, ç with c, ı with i, ğ with g, and ş with s;
  • no trailing spaces should be left in any field;
  • for double first names or surnames, try both the joined and separated versions.

Online check-in is only available at airports equipped for the service; at some stations, the counter remains the only option. According to the airline's published information, it is also excluded for unaccompanied minors and for disabled or reduced-mobility passengers who need special assistance or equipment at the airport.

A dedicated check-in app is not promoted by the airline: the process runs through the website, from a phone or a computer.

Boarding pass: how you receive it and pick it up at the airport

Once check-in is confirmed, the airline sends a confirmation by SMS or email, depending on your chosen preference. The printed boarding pass is then collected at the airport check-in counters.

If you are travelling with checked baggage, you can go straight to the baggage drop counter. The airline recommends arriving at the airport with enough time for baggage formalities and security checks, as security measures can lengthen queues.

The boarding pass format depends on the station: not every airport served yet issues a barcoded boarding pass. If in doubt about your departure airport, assume a counter visit will be needed and plan your arrival time accordingly.

Travel documents and checks

Checking in does not validate your documents. Freebird's general conditions of carriage state the passenger's obligation to obtain the required travel documents and visas and to comply with the regulations of the countries of departure, arrival and transit. Your passport and, if required for your destination, visa or residence permit must be ready at the time of check-in.

For flights touching France, the airline notes that carriers transmit passenger booking, check-in and boarding data (PNR/API) to the French authorities, as required by regulation. Data entered during check-in is therefore also used for this transmission, which is why accuracy of the name and document number matters.

Baggage, seats and services to book before your flight

Check-in is when paid extras are usually settled. Through My Booking on the airline's website, you can add extra baggage, special items and sports equipment, book a seat, order a premium meal, request special assistance (wheelchair, medical equipment), or correct a few characters in a name.

Freebird's baggage allowance depends on the fare and, for charter flights, on the contract arranged by the tour operator: it is stated on your ticket or travel documents, and that is the reference that applies. Prohibited items and lithium battery rules are covered on dedicated pages by the airline.

Online check-in can also be carried out on your behalf, as soon as it opens, by iBoardingPass, which then sends the boarding pass by email.

Common issues and similar airlines

Can't check in online? The most common cause is a tour operator booking whose reference has not yet been transmitted, or an airport that does not support the service. Also check the exact spelling of the name: the form rejects accents and Turkish characters.

If the 4 hours before departure window has passed, check-in must be done at the counter, within the station's opening hours. Once the counters have closed, you can no longer be accepted on the flight: contact the airline's customer service about the options for your ticket.

Other carriers serve the same Turkish coastal destinations, with different check-in rules: see the AJet check-in process and the Corendon Airlines check-in times.
