Iberojet Online Check-in and Boarding Pass

Iberojet is a Spanish airline specialising in long-haul flights to the Caribbean, Central America, the Indian Ocean and Asia, departing mainly from Madrid and Lisbon. On these routes, check-in needs to be prepared in advance: the "Check-in online" form on the airline's website asks for your surname and booking code (locator). This page brings together what you need to know about opening and closing times, your boarding pass, dropping off luggage and the situations that require a visit to a check-in counter.

When Iberojet check-in opens and closes

Exact times depend on the flight and departure airport: the cut-off time is shown on your booking confirmation, and that is the one that counts.

Iberojet's online check-in closes before departure, to leave time for document checks and baggage drop-off. Give yourself plenty of margin rather than cutting it close: once the system closes, the only option left is the airport counter.

At the airport, counters also close ahead of departure time, and the closing time can vary from one stopover to another. For an intercontinental flight (Madrid, Lisbon, Punta Cana, La Romana, Cancún, San Salvador, Mauritius, Bangkok…), the airline recommends arriving well in advance for international checks: go by the earliest time listed for your departure airport.

Checking in online on the website or app

Iberojet's website has a dedicated "Check-in online" area, separate from booking management. Two pieces of information are required: the passenger's surname and the booking code, referred to as the "locator" on the site, found on your confirmation email.

A few points worth knowing:

  • If you booked through a travel agency or tour operator (a large share of Iberojet flights are sold as package holidays), the airline's booking code isn't always the same as the reference on your agency voucher: ask for it before departure day.
  • Passengers on the same booking are normally checked in together; a passenger added afterwards may end up on a separate record.
  • Iberojet offers a mobile app, but check-in can also be done through a browser: no installation is required to access the online form.
  • The airline sells seat selection and its Turista+ cabin: choosing or upgrading your seat should be handled before check-in, within your booking management area.

Getting and using your boarding pass

Once check-in is confirmed, your boarding pass is made available in electronic form and sent to the email address on file. It shows your name, flight number, expected gate, seat and boarding time, which is always earlier than the departure time.

The mobile boarding pass isn't accepted everywhere: some airports in Latin America, the Caribbean or Asia still require a printed document at the security checkpoint or immigration. If you're departing from one of these airports, have your boarding pass printed at the Iberojet counter when you arrive.

For connecting flights or return journeys, make sure you have a separate boarding pass for each segment: check-in for your return flight opens according to that flight's own schedule, not the outbound one.

Documents, counters and baggage on departure day

Iberojet mainly serves destinations outside the Schengen area. Your passport, its expiry date, any visa or electronic authorisation (e-visa, tourist card) and sometimes proof of a return ticket are checked either online or at the counter. Until these documents have been verified, check-in may remain incomplete even if you started it online. The airline publishes its "Travel Documentation Requirements" and "Check-in information" pages with details specific to each destination.

Checked baggage must be dropped off at the counter before it closes, even if you've already checked in online. Travelling with an infant, an unaccompanied minor, a pet, oversized luggage or a request for assistance falls under Iberojet's "Special requirements" and generally needs to be arranged with the airline ahead of time, then confirmed at the counter on the day.

Cabin and checked baggage allowances depend on the fare you purchased and, for package holidays, on the tour operator's contract: check the "baggage" line of your booking before you travel, since paying for excess baggage at the airport costs more than adding it in advance.

Common problems and solutions

Code or name not recognised: the name entered must match exactly what's on the ticket, as it appears on the passport, without accents or a middle name if the ticket doesn't include one. For an agency booking, try the code issued by the airline rather than the agency's own reference.

Check-in is blocked: this is often a sign that documents need to be checked in person, that the flight is operated by another carrier, or that the booking has already been amended. Iberojet's customer service can usually resolve this before departure day.

Boarding pass not received: check your spam folder, then search again for your booking online; the document remains available as long as the flight hasn't departed.

Schedule changed: a time change sometimes resets your check-in, and a new boarding pass is then issued. The airline provides a "Flight Status" tracker so you can check your flight before heading to the airport.

If you're planning other trips within Spain or to the Canary Islands, the rules differ from one airline to another: see also Air Europa check-in and Binter check-in. Online check-in for an Iberojet flight can also be handled by iBoardingPass, which then sends the boarding pass by email.

Frequently asked questions

When can I check in for an Iberojet flight?

Online check-in closes before departure, with a margin built in for document checks. The exact time depends on the flight and airport: check the time shown on your booking confirmation and, if in doubt, go by the earliest deadline.

What do I need to access Iberojet online check-in?

The form asks for the passenger's surname and the booking code, referred to as the locator on the airline's website. This code appears on your confirmation email; for a package holiday, it may differ from the agency's own reference.

Is a mobile Iberojet boarding pass enough?

It's accepted at many airports, but not everywhere: several Caribbean, Latin American and Asian stopovers still require a printed copy. If your departure airport requires one, have your pass printed at the Iberojet counter before security checks.

Do I still need to visit the counter if I've checked in online?

Yes, if you're travelling with checked baggage to drop off, or if your situation falls under the airline's special requirements (infant, pet, assistance, oversized luggage). This also applies when your destination requires passport and visa verification before boarding.

Does Iberojet charge for checking in at the airport?

Any fees depend on the fare purchased and the airport; they don't apply the same way to a standalone ticket as to a flight sold as part of a package. Your booking's fare conditions and the airline's website show what's included.

How do I get my boarding pass for the return flight?

The return flight is checked in separately, according to its own schedule. Go back to the online check-in form with the same name and booking code on the day check-in opens for the return leg.
