Condor Check-in and Boarding Pass: Deadlines and Rules

Condor offers several ways to check in: Online Check-in, the airport counter, self-service baggage kiosks and, at many German airports as well as in Zurich, evening-before check-in. Each option has its own deadlines and, depending on the fare booked, its own fees. This page brings together the timings to respect, how to get your boarding pass, and the situations that can prevent online check-in.

When Condor check-in opens and closes

Condor's Online Check-in opens 24 hours before departure. Condor sends an email as soon as check-in becomes available, but you can also access it directly from the My Trip section using your booking number and surname.

The closing time depends on the type of flight and departure point. Based on information published by the airline, online check-in ends around one hour before departure on long-haul flights and a little later on short and medium-haul flights, while another page mentions availability up to two hours before departure: use the earliest deadline as your reference and check the exact time on your booking.

At the airport counter, you must have completed check-in and be holding your boarding pass 45 minutes before departure. For long-haul flights, for Premium Economy and long-haul Business Class, and for flights to the United Arab Emirates, the cutoff is generally earlier, around one hour before departure. Condor recommends arriving about two hours before departure, more from April to October due to higher passenger volumes, and even earlier for flights to the United States and Canada.

Checking in online or with the Condor app

For Online Check-in, Condor asks for the booking number shown on the confirmation email, your surname, and passport details to be entered during the process. Mobile check-in is also available: no, the Condor App allows check-in but is not presented as mandatory, the app serves as an alternative to the website.

Several cases cannot be handled online:

  • groups booked through the group booking service; online check-in only covers a limited number of passengers per booking;
  • passengers with special baggage that incurs extra fees;
  • passengers travelling with an animal and unaccompanied minors, who can check in online but do not receive a boarding pass;
  • travel companions who did not book the same fare, who must check in separately.

For connecting flights, online check-in is generally possible when the flights are on the same booking and operated by Condor or its partners. With separate bookings or a long layover, a new check-in may be required. If the flight is operated by another airline, such as Lufthansa, that airline's rules apply.

Getting and presenting your boarding pass

After Online Check-in, your boarding pass can be printed or downloaded to your phone. The email Condor sends after check-in contains a link to add the pass to your smartphone wallet, usable afterwards without an internet connection, and the PDF file opens on a computer with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The mobile boarding pass is not accepted everywhere. Condor lists the United States, flights between the United Kingdom and the United States, Hurghada and Windhoek. For technical reasons, the mobile pass also cannot be issued after Online Check-in when departing from Hurghada (HRG), Agadir (AGA), Cancún (CUN), Punta Cana (PUJ), Santo Domingo (SDQ), Yerevan (EVN), Mombasa (MBA), Haikou (HAK) and Sanya (SYX). In these cases, print your pass in advance or collect it at the counter.

Lost your pass, or didn't print it? You'll find it again in the online check-in confirmation email and can reprint it; without access to a printer, the airport check-in counter can reissue it.

At the airport: counters, kiosks and baggage

Condor counters are generally located in the international departures area, with airport signage and screens helping you find them: Terminal 1 at Berlin-Brandenburg, Terminal B at Düsseldorf, Terminal 1 departure hall C at Frankfurt, Terminal Central at Leipzig. When departing from the United States and Canada, counters open several hours before the scheduled departure time. Passengers arriving in Frankfurt on a connecting flight go straight to the boarding gate for their onward flight.

If you've already checked in online, self-service baggage drop kiosks, available at many Condor airports at no charge, accept bags up to 1 hour before departure; all you need is your booking number or an ID document. With just one piece of hand luggage, you can go straight to security and then to the boarding gate.

Evening-before check-in, offered at many German airports and in Zurich, lets you drop off baggage and collect your boarding pass the evening before departure; on the day itself, you then go straight through security to the boarding gate. a valid ID card or passport is required for check-in (at the airport and the day before). Animals can only be checked in on the day of departure, special flights outside the regular schedule are excluded from this option, and one adult can check in other travellers by presenting their travel documents and ID. Extra baggage can still be dropped off on the day of departure. Baggage allowances and size limits depend on your fare: refer to your booking confirmation.

Fees by fare and common problems

Economy Zero is the only fare for which airport counter check-in is charged: €25. For all other passengers, airport check-in is included in the ticket price, and Online Check-in remains the only included option with Economy Zero.

Evening-before check-in follows a separate fee structure, depending on the fare booked: it is charged for Economy Light and Economy Classic, €25, with a reduced amount for passengers already checked in online, and it is included in the ticket for Premium Economy and Business Class, as well as for travellers who have already selected airport check-in. The currency and amount are set by the airport concerned: fees may apply in euros, Swiss francs, pounds or dollars. This service can be paid on the spot at the counter, or added to the booking in advance.

When online check-in doesn't work, the most common causes are a mistyped booking number, different fares among passengers on the same booking, too large a group, or a special baggage item subject to a fee. If Online Check-in isn't available for your flight, Condor states that check-in can then be completed at the airport counter at no extra cost; if the issue persists, the airline's customer service can help. A traveller who would rather not deal with it can hand over their online check-in to iBoardingPass, which carries it out as soon as Condor check-in opens and sends the boarding pass by email.
