Air Tahiti Nui Online Check-in and Boarding Pass
Air Tahiti Nui offers its passengers an online check-in service, called Web Check-in, available on all flights operated by the airline. It opens 24 hours before departure and closes 5 hours before. One detail is worth knowing before you travel: online check-in results in a check-in confirmation, and the boarding pass itself is collected at the airport counter. This page brings together the schedules, the steps and the points to watch for on TN flights.

When Air Tahiti Nui check-in opens and closes
Air Tahiti Nui's Web Check-in is available between 24 hours and 5 hours before departure, on all flights operated by the airline. Once that 5-hour window has passed, check-in can only be completed at the airport counter.
At the airport, timings depend on the stopover and the type of flight. At Papeete Tahiti Faa'a (PPT), counters for international flights open 3 hours before departure and close 1 hour before; for inter-island flights operated from the domestic terminal, opening is 1 hour 30 minutes before departure and closing 30 minutes before. At Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Air Tahiti Nui check-in takes place at terminal 2D (grouped under the name Terminal 4 from March 2027), opening 3 hours 45 minutes before departure and closing 1 hour before. At Auckland (AKL), the counter opens 3 hours before departure and closes 1 hour before departure, with boarding gates closing 15 minutes before departure.
| Stopover | Counter opening | Closing |
|---|---|---|
| Papeete PPT (international) | 3 hours before | 1 hour before |
| Papeete PPT (inter-island) | 1 hour 30 min before | 30 minutes before |
| Paris CDG (terminal 2D) | 3 hours 45 min before | 1 hour before |
| Auckland AKL | 3 hours before departure | 1 hour before departure |
These timings can vary depending on the departure airport and local arrangements: the time shown on your booking or in the airline's emails takes precedence. If in doubt, plan to be at the counter earlier than the stated deadline.
Web Check-in: what to enter, what you receive
The airline describes a procedure in a few steps: log in between 24 and 5 hours before the scheduled departure time, enter your travel details, confirm check-in, then receive the check-in confirmation by email.
To open the form, two pieces of information are enough:
- the passenger's surname, exactly as it appears on the booking;
- the 6-character booking reference or the 13-digit e-ticket number, provided by the travel agency or shown in the confirmation email.
Online check-in is also the time to choose your Seat à la Carte. The airline's optional services (advance seat selection, Lounge Pass, Priority Pass) are booked via Manage My Booking or on the Air Tahiti Nui mobile app; Web Check-in itself is done through the airline's website.
Boarding pass: a stop at the counter is still required
Online check-in does not directly issue a document to scan, but a check-in confirmation sent by email. The airline then asks passengers to go to the airport check-in counter with this confirmation, in order to collect the boarding pass on site.
In practice, having checked in online does not exempt you from going to the counter, nor from respecting the stopover's closing time. Also allow time for police and security formalities: at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, the airline reports longer waiting times at the entrance to the boarding area and recommends arriving as early as possible. Air Tahiti Nui flights from Paris to Los Angeles may be subject to additional security checks at boarding: electronic devices carried in the cabin must be able to be switched on if requested.
Baggage, documents and connections
The stop at the counter is also used to check in hold baggage. The dimensions to respect and the regulated or prohibited items are detailed on the Baggage page of the airline's official website; conditions can vary depending on the travel class (Moana Economy, Mānava Premium, Poerava Business) and the route. As Air Tahiti Nui's routes serve French Polynesia, New Zealand, the United States and Japan among others, remember to check the entry requirements specific to each destination, presented on the airline's Entry Requirements and Formalities page.
For connections, allow plenty of time: the airline states a minimum connection time of 2 hours at Paris CDG and, at Auckland, 1 hour 15 minutes international to international, 1 hour 30 minutes international to a domestic flight, and 1 hour 15 minutes domestic to international. In Papeete, inter-island flights are operated by Air Tahiti from the domestic terminal, separate from the international terminal where Air Tahiti Nui welcomes its passengers.
Finally, Tahiti Faa'a airport is not open 24 hours a day. A baggage storage facility is available in the main hall, between international departures and the arrivals area.
Common issues and solutions
Missed the window: if you try less than 5 hours before departure, Web Check-in is no longer accessible and check-in must be done at the counter, within your stopover's opening hours.
Reference rejected: check that you are entering either a 6-character reference or a 13-digit ticket number, and the surname exactly as spelled on the booking. Tickets bought through a travel agency sometimes carry an agency reference different from the airline's own reference.
Flight operated by a partner: on a segment sold by Air Tahiti Nui but operated by another airline, the check-in rules of the airline actually operating the flight apply, including for the boarding pass. Travellers combining several carriers in the region often check the conditions of Air New Zealand, those of Air Moana for inter-island flights or the check-in rules of Air Niugini.
Schedule or programme changes: the airline publishes updates to its flight programme, and a schedule change automatically shifts both the opening and closing of check-in. Check the exact departure time on your booking the day before your flight. iBoardingPass, an independent, paid service with no connection to airlines, can complete online check-in on your behalf as soon as it opens and send you the resulting document by email.
