Closing time depends on the type of flight:
| Flight type | Online check-in closing time |

Checking in online and getting your boarding pass
Air Botswana states that online check-in is available for all of its domestic and regional destinations. The airline describes a service that lets you handle your own check-in.
Once check-in is complete, the boarding pass comes in two forms: an electronic version, which you download, or a printed version. The airline's sources do not mention a dedicated mobile app for check-in, nor a procedure for sending the boarding pass by SMS.
At the airport: baggage drop and checks
If you are travelling without checked baggage, you do not need to go through the Air Botswana check-in counters: you can head straight to security screening.
With a bag to check in, go to the Air Botswana Express/Teemane counter for baggage drop. Your bags are tagged there and then sent on to the aircraft. If this counter is not open, a standard check-in counter can be used.
On domestic flights, baggage drop closes 45 minutes before departure; on international flights, one hour and fifteen minutes before departure. Plan to arrive ahead of this deadline, allowing time for queues and checks.
Baggage: what you can bring
In economy class, Air Botswana allows one carry-on bag of 7 kg maximum, with total dimensions not exceeding 115 cm. This bag must fit in the cabin overhead lockers.
For checked baggage, the allowance is 23 kg, on both domestic and international flights. The airline asks that all valuables be removed from checked bags.
Common check-in issues
A few situations come up often:
- The website won't let you check in: check that the check-in window is open and that your flight is among the domestic or regional destinations covered by the service.
- You forgot to check in: go to the airline's counter, making sure to respect the baggage drop deadline.
- Your boarding pass won't open: you can download it again or print it, as both formats are offered by Air Botswana.
- You want to change seats: this can be done during online check-in.
If you would rather not keep track of when check-in opens, iBoardingPass can check in on your behalf as soon as it opens and send your boarding pass to you by email.
