VietJet Air Online Check-In and Boarding Pass
VietJet Air, through its subsidiary Thai Vietjet (code VZ), applies check-in rules that differ depending on whether your flight is domestic within Thailand or international. On Thai domestic flights operated by Thai Vietjet, online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 1 hour before departure. On other flights, particularly international routes, the airline directs passengers to the airport counters. This page summarises the deadlines, the boarding pass, cases excluded from online check-in and baggage rules.

When VietJet check-in opens and closes
For domestic flights within Thailand operated by Thai Vietjet (VZ), the online check-in window opens 24 hours before departure and closes 1 hour before departure. Once this window has passed, only the airport counter remains available.
Online check-in is not offered for Thai Vietjet's international flights: on these routes, presenting yourself at the counter with your passport and any required visa remains the rule. For flights operated by Vietjet Air in Vietnam (code VJ), procedures are managed separately by the airline; check what is shown on your booking confirmation, as the flight number starting with VJ or VZ tells you which process applies to you.
Counter closing times depend on the airport and flight type: this is shown on your booking and on the airline's official website. Allow yourself a comfortable margin, especially at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) during peak hours: once the counter closes, the flight is missed.
Who cannot check in online with Thai Vietjet
The airline explicitly excludes several passenger profiles from online check-in. These travellers must go to the counter:
| Case | Detail |
|---|---|
| Infant on lap | Travelling with a baby |
| Pregnant passenger | Waiver form to sign at the counter |
| Reduced mobility | Special assistance to request in advance from the airline |
| Group | More than 9 passengers on the same booking |
| Documents to present | Mandatory check by an agent |
| Young solo traveller | 12 to 16 years old travelling unaccompanied |
| Checked baggage | Any checked bag must be dropped off at the counter |
Also worth noting: once online check-in is complete, booking management and adding extra services are no longer possible. Buy your baggage allowance, seat or meals before checking in.
Boarding pass: format and checks
Thai Vietjet asks passengers who check in online to print their electronic boarding pass and present it to airport authorities at the security checkpoint. A paper copy is therefore expected on Thai domestic flights: print it before leaving home or have it printed on site.
The boarding pass must show the same name as your ID card or passport. The airline does not allow name changes after a booking is confirmed; only up to 3 incorrect letters, across first and last name combined, with the same pronunciation, can be corrected free of charge by contacting the airline with an ID card or passport.
Even if you have checked in online, you must still go to the counter if you have checked baggage, then reach the boarding gate within the posted deadlines. On an international flight, travel document checks are carried out at the counter before the boarding pass is issued.
Baggage: what matters at check-in
Standard cabin baggage is limited to 7 kg, and each piece must not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm cm.
Higher classes fare better: SkyBOSS includes 30 kg of checked baggage (plus a golf set of up to 15 kg) and 10 kg in the cabin, with priority check-in counter access. The Deluxe class gives, depending on the airline, 20 kg checked and 7 kg in the cabin, also with priority counter access.
If your fare does not include checked baggage, the allowance can be purchased in advance, at booking or through booking management, which is no longer accessible once online check-in is complete. Applicable rates are those published by the airline.
Common issues and solutions
Online check-in unavailable: first check that your flight is indeed a Thai domestic flight operated by VZ and that you are within the check-in window. If your booking falls under one of the excluded cases (infant, group, assistance), the system will not let you complete the process; the counter then takes over.
Boarding pass not received or lost: log back into your booking management with your booking reference and passenger name to reprint it, or go to the airline's counter. Thai Vietjet's customer service can be reached by phone, email and chat during its opening hours, shown on the airline's official website.
Seat not chosen: if you have not paid for seat selection, seating is assigned by the airline and families are not guaranteed to sit together. Seat selection must be purchased before check-in, not after.
Delay or schedule change: check the updated departure time before heading to the airport, since the check-in window is calculated relative to the departure time. iBoardingPass can complete online check-in on the traveller's behalf, as soon as it opens, and send the boarding pass by email.
