LATAM Chile Boarding Pass: Deadlines and Rules
With LATAM, check-in is the step that gets you your boarding pass, and it's often completed automatically by the airline once all your passenger details are up to date. But your file still needs to be complete: without confirmed documents, it falls to you to check in yourself, and the closing time becomes critical. This page brings together the deadlines, required documents and airport steps for a LATAM Chile flight.

When LATAM Check-in Opens and Closes
Check-in opens 48 hours before departure for every flight. If LATAM already has all the necessary information at that point, the airline completes it automatically and your boarding pass becomes available.
If any information is missing from your file, the process falls back to you, and it stays open until 2 hours before departure. Once this deadline has passed, you'll need to go to the airport counters, whose closing times vary by airport and flight: check the exact time shown on your booking and allow plenty of extra time.
| Situation | LATAM Deadline |
|---|---|
| Check-in opens | 48 hours before departure |
| Self check-in required (missing information) | until 2 hours before departure |
| Delta-operated flight checked in via latam.com | 24 hours before departure |
If your itinerary includes multiple flights, the document confirmation from the first segment carries over: for the following flights, LATAM checks you in automatically 48 hours before each departure.
Automatic Check-in, Website and App
LATAM's system is built around keeping your documents up to date in your passenger account. According to the airline's support center:
- Purchases made on latam.com, domestic flights within Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador or Peru: since your information was already entered at purchase, no further action is needed and check-in happens automatically.
- Domestic flights within Chile: starting September 1, 2026, due to a change in local regulations, LATAM must have your up-to-date information and documents before completing your check-in. If everything is already current in My LATAM Account, check-in will be automatic; otherwise, you'll need to confirm your documents on the website or app after purchase.
- International flights: after booking, review and confirm the required information for your destination. Once confirmed at least 48 hours before the flight, automatic check-in is triggered.
- Tickets bought through a travel agency or another website: review and confirm the required information under My Trips, on latam.com or through the LATAM Airlines app.
Both channels, the website and the app, let you complete these steps; the app also shows your updated gate number on the day of the flight if your boarding pass is stored there. If a segment is operated by an airline other than LATAM or Delta, checking in through latam.com will redirect you to that airline's own website.
Getting and Presenting Your Boarding Pass
Your boarding pass is available through the LATAM Airlines app or on the website, under My Trips. Self-service kiosks at the airport let you print your pass and tag your bags.
On the day of your flight, arrive at the airport with a valid travel document. If you're traveling with carry-on luggage only, you can head straight to the boarding gate with your ID card or passport.
One detail worth noting: depending on your destination, additional information may be required, and your document details must be current. As long as something is missing, automatic check-in won't happen and you'll need to get your boarding pass yourself.
Documents and Checks Before the Flight
LATAM requires that you present a valid travel document on the day of the flight. Your document details must be up to date in your account, and depending on your destination, additional information may be requested.
On international flights, entry requirements are generally set by the destination country: passport validity, and sometimes a visa or electronic travel authorization. Check these details well ahead of departure rather than the night before. In Lima, adult Peruvian passengers and foreign residents in Peru holding a residence card and an electronic passport can fill out a pre-registration form on the Immigration Services website to use the automated gates in the new terminal.
Baggage and Airport Steps
Online check-in doesn't exempt you from the baggage drop area if you're checking a bag. With checked luggage, head to a self-service kiosk to print your pass and tag your bags, then drop them at the automatic bag-drop point or at the LATAM counter.
As for baggage allowance, each checked bag must individually stay within the allowed limits: weights cannot be combined between suitcases, and beyond 23 kg per piece, excess baggage fees apply. The number of included bags depends on your fare (Light, Standard, Full, Premium Economy, Premium Business).
In the cabin, LATAM allows one small bag measuring 45 x 35 x 20 cm on all fares, plus a carry-on measuring 55 x 35 x 25 cm on Light, Full, Standard, Premium Economy Standard/Full and Premium Business Standard/Full fares, capped at 12 kg in Economy and 16 kg in Premium Economy or Premium Business. Dimensions are checked at the boarding gate: an oversized or extra bag will need to go in the hold for a fee.
In Lima, one of the airline's main hubs, self-service kiosks are located in zones A and B of Island 1, on the right side of the check-in area; LATAM Pass Gold and Platinum members and premium cabin passengers have access to counters A11 through A15. Minimum connection times there range from 45 minutes (domestic to domestic) to 95 minutes (international to international with baggage claim).
Common Issues and Solutions
A few situations come up often with LATAM flights:
- Automatic check-in didn't happen: some information is missing from your file. Update your details in My LATAM Account or under My Trips, then complete check-in before 2 hours before departure.
- Your boarding pass isn't showing up: find it under My Trips, on latam.com or in the LATAM Airlines app, once check-in is complete.
- Flight operated by a partner airline: check-in continues on the operating airline's website, except with Delta, where latam.com covers the entire itinerary, 24 hours before departure.
- Once the online deadline has passed, you'll need to go to the airport, within counter opening hours.
- An unresolved issue can be reported by opening a case with LATAM's support center, which you can then track using your email address.
