Camair-Co Check-in Counters, Deadlines and Boarding Pass

Camair-Co, Cameroon's national carrier, serves the domestic network from Douala and Yaoundé as well as several regional and international routes. Check-in rules are not the same depending on whether you are flying to Garoua or to Paris: documents, airport arrival time and baggage requirements all change. This page brings together what you need to know before heading to the counter to get your boarding pass.

When check-in opens and when it closes

On domestic flights, Camair-Co asks passengers to be at the airport at least 1h30 before departure. For international flights, the airline states that passengers should arrive a minimum of 2 hours before the flight. These deadlines refer to your arrival at the terminal, not to the counter closing time: check-in closes before the scheduled departure time. Check the exact time printed on your booking or ticket, and allow extra time during peak hours in Douala, which has four daily flights to Yaoundé (except on Sundays).

Once the counter has closed, the agent can no longer add a passenger to the flight, even if boarding has not started yet. Going through security screening and then border police, on international departures, also takes time: factor this in on top of the deadline announced by the airline.

Online check-in, app and counter

Camair-Co offers a customer area on its official website, camair-co.cm, with account creation and a booking management section where you can retrieve your file using your reference and name. The availability of online check-in varies depending on the flight and airport served: on part of the network, particularly the smallest domestic stops, check-in is done at the counter of the airline or its ground handling agent.

When you check in at the counter, bring your identity document and, where applicable, your visa. The name entered on the booking must match exactly the one on your identity document: a spelling difference should be corrected before departure day, at a Camair-Co office or through customer service, not at the airport.

For seat selection, the airline describes cabin seat allocation options in its dedicated section. If no seat has been selected in advance, one is assigned at check-in, which matters if you are travelling as a family and want seats next to each other.

Identity and travel documents to prepare

This is the most sensitive point with Camair-Co: the airline states that failing to bring the documents required for travel results in denied boarding for the passengers concerned, with no recourse against the airline.

Flight typeRequired document
Domestic flights, Cameroonian passengersValid national identity card; a passport is also accepted
Domestic flights, foreign nationals in CameroonValid passport, residence permit or resident card
International flightstravel within the country requires only a valid national identity card
Infants and childrenA valid identity document is mandatory, even for infants

Entry requirements depend on your nationality and the purpose of your trip (business, tourism, studies), and it is your responsibility to check them with the embassy or consulate of your destination country. On the health side, yellow fever vaccination is required for travellers departing from or arriving in Cameroon. Camair-Co recommends carrying photocopies of all your travel documents.

Baggage and drop-off at the counter

Check-in is also when your hold baggage is weighed and tagged. Baggage allowances depend on the class and fare purchased: the airline sets out its rules in its Baggage Information and Fare Family sections, and any excess must be paid before the tags are issued.

A few useful habits on departure day:

  • Weigh your bag before leaving for the airport, so you avoid reopening your suitcases in front of the counter.
  • Keep your documents, medication and valuables in your carry-on bag.
  • If you are travelling with a pet, a stroller or special equipment, mention it in advance: these requests are handled at booking, not at check-in.
  • A delayed or missing bag should be reported to the station's baggage service before you leave the arrivals area.

Baggage drop-off closes at the same time as check-in: arrive at the counter with time to spare if you have hold luggage.

Boarding pass and unexpected situations

The boarding pass shows your name, flight number, gate and the deadline for presenting yourself at the gate. This boarding time is different from the departure time: go to the gate as soon as it is called, since the gate closes before the aircraft departs.

If your name is misspelled on the boarding pass, report it to an agent immediately: it is easier to correct at the counter than once you are airside. In case of a delayed or cancelled flight, or a missed connection, contact the Camair-Co airport counter or the airline's customer service, reachable at the numbers published on its website. For a refund, the airline asks for information entered exactly as it appears on the passenger's passport.

If you would rather not track check-in opening yourself, iBoardingPass can carry out this step on your behalf as soon as it opens and send you your boarding pass by email.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I be at the airport with Camair-Co?

The airline asks passengers to be at the airport a minimum of 2 hours before an international flight and at least 1h30 before a domestic flight. The counter itself closes before departure time: plan to arrive well before the end of this window, especially if you have hold baggage.

Can I travel on the domestic network with just my ID card?

Yes for passengers of Cameroonian nationality: a valid national identity card is enough within the country, and a passport is also accepted. Foreign residents must present a valid passport, residence permit or resident card.

Which documents are checked at check-in for an international flight?

travel within the country requires only a valid national identity card A vaccination record may also be requested, as yellow fever vaccination is required both departing from and arriving in Cameroon.

What happens if I arrive after check-in has closed?

The counter can no longer add you to the flight and you are considered a no-show. Depending on your fare conditions, rebooking onto a later flight may involve a fee: contact the Camair-Co airport counter or an airline office as soon as possible.

My name is misspelled on my booking, is this a problem for check-in?

Yes, the name on the ticket must match the identity document presented. Have the error corrected before departure day at a Camair-Co office or through customer service, as the ground agent cannot always amend a booking at the counter.

Is an identity document required for an infant?

Yes. Camair-Co states that a valid identity document is mandatory for infants, including when they travel on an adult's lap.
