When Air Peace check-in opens and closes

At the airport counter, on international flights, Air Peace check-in opens 6 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before departure. On domestic and regional flights, counter times are different and tighter: check the exact time shown on your booking, as it takes precedence over any general rule.

Online check-in closes earlier than the counter. Once that window has passed, airport check-in remains available, within the hours above.

Flight typeCounter (opening / closing)
International6 hours before departure / 90 minutes before departure
Domestic and regionalshorter hours, confirm on your booking

Gate closing is a second, separate cut-off: on regional and international flights, the gate closes 20 minutes before departure. Being checked in does not mean you can skip getting to the gate well ahead of time.

Online check-in, the app and your boarding pass

Air Peace online check-in is done through the Check-in section of the airline's website or through its mobile app, using the 6-character alphanumeric booking reference and the passenger's name. All Air Peace tickets are issued electronically: you receive this PNR code and a 13-digit e-ticket number.

Getting your boarding pass online does not always close the file. On the day of travel, the airline asks passengers to present their e-ticket, printed or on a phone, for check-in. On regional and international flights, a valid international passport and, where applicable, a visa are required: allow time for this document check.

Some bookings cannot be processed online, particularly those involving special service requests such as special assistance or an unaccompanied minor, with the latter file being completed at the airport. In these cases, check-in is done at the counter.

Seat selection is made at the time of booking or through the seat selection page on the airline's website. Exit row seats offer more space but are only assigned to passengers who accept and meet the conditions set by aviation regulations.

Documents, ticket validity and connections

On identification documents, the Air Peace rule is as follows: passengers on domestic flights must present a valid photo ID, and those on regional/international flights a valid international passport and a visa (if applicable), at the time of sale, check-in and at the boarding gate. A passport with a short remaining validity may be refused by the destination country's authorities, regardless of the airline.

On ticket validity, the airline's conditions state that one year from the first travel date for a full-fare ticket (except for the Caribbean: Barbados and Antigua, valid 3 months); discounted tickets are valid 6 months from the date of the offer. This rule concerns the period during which travel can take place, not the boarding pass for the day.

Watch out for connections: passengers transiting through Abuja onto Air Peace flights to London (Heathrow or Gatwick) must collect their checked baggage on arrival in Abuja and check in again for the international flight. This procedure is mandatory for all transit passengers, so allow enough connection time for baggage collection, security screening and international check-in formalities. The airline states that failing to collect and re-check baggage may result in delays or missed connections.

Baggage: what to sort out before check-in

Baggage check happens within the same time window as check-in, and this is often where the bill goes up. In Economy class on the Lagos/Abuja to London route, the checked baggage allowance is 2 pieces; the airline has also communicated an enhanced allowance on Abuja-London flights and 20 kg in Economy on domestic flights. Check the allowance tied to your fare in your booking confirmation, as it varies by class and route.

An extra bag bought online more than 6 hours before departure costs US$150 on the Lagos/Abuja-London route. The same bag bought at the airport on this route (Gatwick/Heathrow) is charged US$200. The gap widens the closer you get to departure.

If a bag is missing on arrival, Air Peace asks passengers to go to the baggage services counter or a ground agent and fill in a Property Irregularity Report before leaving the airport; the airline states it is not liable if the passenger has already left without completing this form.

Common issues: check-in not working, missed flight, name error

If online check-in rejects your booking, the cause is often a service request on file, an incomplete payment, or a ticket whose issuance is not confirmed. The airport counter then remains the normal route, within the hours given above.

A misspelled name should be reported to the airline without delay: Air Peace does not allow passenger changes or ticket transfers, but does review reported spelling mistakes, and updates the ticket on presentation of an official document in the case of a legal name change.

Missed flight, changes or a question about your booking: you can go through an Air Peace office, the Manage Booking section of the airline's website, or customer service (callcenter@flyairpeace.com).

One last check before heading out: look at the Departure & Arrivals page on the airline's website and follow your flight status, as the airline encourages passengers to monitor its official channels before heading to the airport in case of disruption. Online check-in can also be handled by iBoardingPass, as soon as check-in opens, with the boarding pass sent by email.
